If you think looking for a good garden hose is an easy task, you are mistaken. Buying the first garden hose you see, without getting enough information and feedback about it is actually a recipe for disaster because who knows, you might be purchasing a subpar product that is a waste of your money.
Even when it comes to garden hoses, you have to make an informed buying decision over it. The right purchase will bring you a durable garden hose that suits your needs and will provide great service for a longer period of time.
Which then brings us to the reviews. Reviews about products often help consumers since they provide information and feedback regarding the features and operations of a particular item. In this case, we are going to discuss Teknor Apex’s NeverKink 8615-100 Series 2000 Ultra-Flexible Garden Hose. We will also see what consumers have been saying about the product as well.
- No kinking, tangling and twisting
- Has stiff sleeve to avoid kinking at water’s spigot
- Includes superior-quality, lead-free, crush-proof aluminum fittings
- Has MicroShield to safeguard hose from mildew and mold growth
US company Teknor Apex was known to be the first manufacturer to create a hose that’s not prone to kinking. The zero-kink feature is due to a technology called NTS, which stands for Non-Torsion System.
This is a transparent segment found on the model hose that makes it resistant to kinks. The Neverkink line from the company promises users dependable garden hoses that will not succumb to twisting, tangling and kinking during use.
The product also features the company’s patented Reflex Mesh technology which makes use of a mesh system to reinforce the hose so tangling, twisting and other usual hose concerns won’t come about. To guard against mildew and mold growth, the hose is provided with MicroShield.
It features fittings that are built from a high-grade, lead-free aluminum material that is resistant to corrosion and rusting. The product also claims that it is crush-proof from up to 1,200 lbs., and its streamlined, patented Ergo-Sleeve secures into the fitting to avoid issues like kinking and leakage at the spigot.
The product also assures that it is flexible enough for everyday usage and maneuverability. It is recommended for use in gardens and landscaping. It can also be used with other attachments from chemical sprayers down to nozzles. A majority of users pretty much agreed that the hose worked well despite the setbacks it presented, which we are going to discuss in the next segment of this review.
While a good number of consumers praised its build and the materials it is made with, there were some complaints from other customers who complained that the item’s connections were weak; several were not able to acquire a good connection to the nozzle despite their efforts trying to manage with the washers.
In addition, many were wary of the product’s given series name, NeverKink, because for several customers, the hose easily kinked. One customer said that he noticed a permanent kink in the hose, which was produced by the ties that held the item to the cardboard ring that came with it. However, according to the same customer, the hose operated well in his case and he said kinking did not affect the water flow.
There were also a few instances of leaking according to some customers. According to one, the hose trickled significantly where the seam is positioned at the side where users are supposed to connect the handle. Many attributed the leak to the mediocre quality of the product.
Another customer complained that the product features sharp ends which can injure users if they are not careful. The same customer did not hesitate to return the item, though, and accredited the faulty threads to quality control.
The NeverKink 8615-100 Series 2000 Ultra-Flexible Garden Hose seemed promising with its array of beneficial features, but sadly it did not work for many customers. You might want to look for another garden hose that has exceeding qualities apart from this product.
